Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Why Do I Feel Like I Might Fall Back Into A State Where I Am Not In Tune With Reality And Could This Be Weed Induced Psychosis?
I think I fell into weed induced Psychosis. I smoked for the first time so this has never happened before. I was given Ativan to calm my anxiety down because I was so scared during that time. I fell asleep and I woke up feeling fine. However, it’s been 2 days since all of this happened and I’ve been feeling as if I might fall back into that state where I was not in tune with reality. Is this possible if I never smoke again?
Symptoms of cannabis induced psychosis may be paranoid delusions, symptoms of hallucination, suspiciousness, disorientation, break from reality, unusual behavior, a sense of grandiosity, unusual emotional responses as well as disturbed thoughts.
These symptoms may be present in persons having first time experience or with heavy doses of cannabis. Usually these symptoms will go by themselves with some time. If you do not take it again, then there should not be any residual effect. However, if such patients continue to take it, then the patients like your experience, are more prone to develop psychotic disorder eventually.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
