I have been having a weird smell in my nose.. no one else can smell it but me and I don't know why? sometimes I also taste it and sometimes both happen at the same time.. it lasts a long time. it's almost like a metallic smell and taste.. what is that and why does it happen?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have metallic smell in nose which could be due to bleeding from the nose, dry nose (atrophic rhinitis), sinusitis, dental filling, drinking boiled water, side effects of any medication and use of antibiotics. It could be due to olfactory hallucination. A metallic smell will often go away once the underlying cause has been treated. For now drink plenty of normal water and use saline nasal spray to keep the nasal mucosa moist .You should contact your doctor if the bad taste persists. I would suggest to consult otolaryngologist . An otolaryngologist may order a taste test to help determine the cause.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
