Why Do I Have A Small Lump Under My Ribs On The Left Side Apart From Intermittent Left-sided Back Pain?

I have a small lump under my ribs on the left side. And I ve been having on and off back pain on the left side. I think I passed a tiny kidney stone last Sunday. I have a doctors appointment on May 10th. I m wondering if I should seek care before that appointment?

Hi,

The most probable cause of a small lump on the left side under the ribs may be a lipoma if it has a black spot and is less mobile or a lipoma if it is long standing and freely mobile. Yes, the best way to get checked is the physical examination, it helps in proper diagnosis and management, surgery if advised so to remove the lump. Send it for histopathology examination. Backache may not be related to the lump.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
