Why Do I Have A Sore Throat After Having Sex? Why The Flu Like Symptoms?

I had sex with a girl who said she was tested hiv neg the other day , I m a nervous maybe she was not telling the truth I don t know she seemed honest about it but its been less than 48hours and today I woke up feeling achy and tired sore throat hard to swallow . The condom popped off in her I never climaxed and did not do any oral or anything we did kiss a lot. I m a bit of a hypochondriac and have been glued to the web doing aids research. I read maybe I could take antibiotics that would help lessen the chances of transmission or drink tons of water what the hell ridiculous right, anyway I also sleep in a cold room and the AC was blasting the past cpl nights maybe that triggered me catching flu like symptoms today and its a change of season . I rarely get sick

Hey Ryan.

Duh! A girl tells you she checked for HIV & you still go ahead & have sex...impressive. Glad you practiced safe sex though & note you did not do anything sans protection. Your climaxing or not has nothing to do with it.

As per your description & histroy, you seem to have nothing to fear & Yes it is probably the A/C that is the problem.

If still worried, you could go across to your dermatologist/venreologist & he could prescribe a one time single dose of Anti-retroviral therapy to allay your fears as per your discussion with him

Alternatively, you could do a PCR test for HIV that should give you fairly accurate results assuming it has been a week now..'the other day' does not quite tell us which?

Dont worry, drink lots of fluids & gargle with warm saline & switch off your A/c & am sure you will be fine in a jiffy.

Do continue to practice safe sex & be a little more choosy with your sex partners!

Cheers & Godspeed!
