I will peiodically smell a tinny metal smell. I ask those around me if they smell the same thing, all say no. I haven t had a sense of smell for some time, which makes me recognize immediately when I do have a sensation of odor, should I be worrying
As per query you are experiencing metallic smell . Well there can be many reasons for metallic smell like bleeding from the nose, dry nose (atrophic rhinitis), sinusitis, dental filling, drinking boiled water, side effects of any medication and use of antibiotics .
A metallic smell will often go away once the underlying cause has been treated. You should contact your doctor if the bad taste persists. I would suggest to consult otolaryngologist . An otolaryngologist may order a taste test to help determine the cause and extent of disorder.
Till then you can try the following: 1. Drink plenty of normal water 2. Use saline nasal spray to keep the nasal mucosa moist .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Dr. Harry Maheshwari
