My 80 year old mother was prescribed aricept, zoloft busbar and amitriptine, and is showing signs of seratonin syndrome, will her symtoms ever go away and why is it shes on three seratonin reuptake inhibitors at once and when she came into the hospital she had a UTI, which is what they said was the reason shes batshit crazy, theyve been treating her uti and shes still batshit crazy. Im wondering if shell show theses symptoms perminatly
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The Zoloft and Buspirone would interact to increase serotonin as you stated, putting her at risk of serotonin syndrome. The symptoms should resolve with discontinuation of one of the combination and would not be permanent. You should discuss this with her doctors.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
