why do we need platelets? i mean it clots the blood...but itsnt a blood clot bad for us?

If your blood didn't clot and you cut yourself, you'd never stop bleeding and you'd bleed to death. It's only bad when it clots inside you, stopping blood flow throughout your body. In that case, it can lead to heart attack or stroke.

my mother has been in remission since august 2009 and she is still having to get platletts twice a week. why?
