Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Why does my chest hurt while/after i eat? it happens mostly during and after dinner that my chest (heart side)will feel a burning sensation or tightening-feels like im having a mild heart attack. Sometimes my right chest also hurts like its full of something and the feeling normally subsides when i burp-although ive been having a hard time burping and when i do, its just a mini-burp and i have to wait for it to happen like 3-5 times before i can do a satisfying burp. My chest (heart side) also hurts sometimes when im mad and sometimes it happens when im at rest. There are times that palpitations will also be present and at times its hard to breath and fees like im choking. I had 2-d echo, ecg and xrays done. all were negative though my 2-d echo states that i have a slightly dilated left atrium . Is that the reason why my heart feels like that? im taking Vasterol 35mg tiwce a day and polinerv-e with llecithin for 2 weeks now but i still feel the same. I stop smoking for a week now but nothing changes the feeling of heaviness and burning on the chest comes up every day.
From the history you give , you have a problem with your stomach and esophagus unlikely to be cardiac. You probably have peptic ulcer disease which can be relieved by antacids like pantoprazole. You should get an endoscopy done to rule out an ulcer at duodenum. It s possible that you might have a problem with movement of the oesophagus (Esophagal motility disorder). Please visit a Gastroenterologist for evaluation .
He may conduct a few tests to analyze your stomach acid , H .pylori infection ,endoscopy to see your stomach and duodenum .
Please feel free to ask us if any further query.
Take care.
