Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Why Does My Heart Rate Fluctuate To The Extent That It Dips Quite Low?
My resting heart rate dips into the low 50’s and even mid 40’s for very short periods of time. I am not particularly fit, I am 56 yo female, this happens while I am awake. This happens daily but accumulated for less than 5-7 minutes per day. Is this anything to worry about?
Your heart rate values are indicative of bradycardia. For this reason, I recommend performing a cardiac ultrasound in order to examine your heart function and structure and an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring (Holter), in order to examine your heart rhythm trends for a prolonged period of time. You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
