Why Does One Get An Odd Discharge During Menstruation?

i was supposed to get my period two weeks ago, around that time i only noticed blood once.. ive never been late, never missed a period and the ammount of blood was very little. before that my body felt really weird and odd discharge was coming out not normal at all more goopy and milky. what could this mean?
