Why Does One Have A Talkative, Violent And Troubled Sleep?

For some time, I have been having talkative, violent and troubled sleep, greatly disturbing my wife. I am 70, don't really have any stress, and don't have any explanation for this. I read in NYT that violence during sleep may be improved with some valium before retiring. I need to do something. Any suggestions?

If you have never had problems like this until just recently and seemingly out of the blue, this needs to be evaluated before taking any medicine, especially something like Valium. A full sleep study could determine exactly what the sleep disturbance is due to, and then appropriate treatment to help can be recommended. I also suggest a general checkup from your doctor with bloodwork etc to be sure you do not have some kind of metabolic or chemical problem causing this. It is very important to have the explanation for such troubled sleep before starting any kind of medicine, including anything over the counter. Hope this helps.
