Why Does Spicy Foods And Pills Cause Stomach Problems?
My teenage daughter is having terrible stomach problems. It seems to happen when she eats greasy or spicy foods and also when she takes any type of pill. The pill could be birth control (Trinessa), tylenol, pepcid, etc. She has had an ultrasound and blood taken. Nothing was found in the ultrasound but the blood work should borderline high cholesterol and high triglycerids. Does anyone know what her problem could be and what type of specialist she should see? This has been going on for 6 months now.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your daughter and understood your concerns. Terrible stomach problems on taking greasy, spicy foods and any medications indicate that she has gastritis and blood work or ultrasonography may not be of much help in such a case. She needs an opinion of a Gastroenterologist. Upper GI Endoscopy. Medications of a PPI like Omeprazole, Domperidone and antacid. Avoidance of the foods, beverages and medications that instigate or enhance the problems. Soft bland diet. Small frequent meals. Control of stress and anxiety. All these factors together can along give her a relief.
