Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When I was first diagnosed with Graves Disease, I started on Synthroid. It made my arms very sore from the wrist to the elbow. I changed to Levoxyl, and took it for many years until it was no longer available. I then took levoxithyrene for a while, but it didn t work. In the meantime, my doctor died, and my new doctor put me on Synthroid .75 mcg. I am having the soreness to the point that it is almost unbearable. What are my options now? (I haven t called my new doctor yet. I plan to do so tomorrow.
Hi, Levoxyl, synthroid contains levothyroxine. After the recall of Levoxyl, synthroid was mentioned as one of the alternatives. As you are having unbearable side effects to synthroid, I would recommend another alternative Tirosint. You can ask your doctor for the above mentioned change. I hope you would be able to tolerate Tirosint. I think the above information helps you in your discussion with your doctor. Thanks for writing into healthcaremagic. Have a wonderful day.
