Why Does The Child Keep The Head Raised Pointing To The Sky?

Hello Dr. Kondekar, I am a grandmother of an 8 wk old grandson and I am concerned about something he does. He always seems to keep his head back as if to look to the sky constantly. He was early at 36 wks and aspirated in the hospital while sleeping. It wasn t clear to us if there was deprivation of oxygen. Is there any concerns about this pattern? He does smile, focuses on us when we talk to him, eats normally (even though he gulps his milk and throws his head back to catch his breath) and follows well with his eyes. I don t want to be a worrier about this. Can you help give answers to me?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Some infants assume the posture for observation and it is normal phenomenon and no need to worry. It will change as time passes.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rajmohan, Pediatrician
