Why Has My Weight Maintenance Changed Despite Eating A Balanced Diet At 1,800 Calories?
Hi, I’m wondering. About a month ago I was eating as much protein, fruits, veggies, dairy etc as I wanted and I was just staying around 1,800 calories! I seemed to be maintaining weight. But now, suddenly, I read that’s bad and could cause weight gain if I don’t stay within certain recommendations? I don’t get it. Because If I try to stay within recommendations, I don’t reach my calories.
Everyone has a different metabolic rate. Formulas are only general guidelines to get us started. If you have been maintaining your weight on about 1800 calories of a balanced diet, simply continue what you have been doing, as it is obviously working for you. Eat the calories that maintain your weight and use the calculations only as guidelines. Do not try to fit into a mold that doesn't work for you.
I hope this sets your mind at ease. If you weigh yourself and you have gained one pound, you are eating approximately 500 calories too much per day or not getting enough exercise. You balance your weight through a combination of a balanced diet and exercise.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
