Why Have I Been Experiencing Chest, Back And Under Arm Pain On My Left Side After Reducing Morphine Dosage Post Lumbar Spinal Fusion?

I have been on morphine for 9 years ever since my botched lumbar spinal fusion. I just got cut back to half of what I had been taking. Since then I have been experiencing chest, back and under arm pain on my left side should I worry or just get through it?

Hi,

You are experiencing some withdrawal of the pain-blocking effects of morphine. I would consider using a slower taper, but overall it will be beneficial to get you off so much pain medication.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
