Why Have I Had Blood In Diarrhea For 2 Days With Cramping And Spasms When I Am Diagnosed With IBS?
I have had bloody diarrhea for 2 days with cramping and spasms. It isn’t a little when I wipe, it’s a toilet full of BRIGHT red blood with regular color solid poop. Is this something that will go away or is this something serious? I have IBS but have never experienced this in my entire life.
You are diagnosed with IBS. Presently, you are having bloody diarrhea. You are also having cramping and spasms. IBS is not the cause of blood in stool but other underlying medical condition can be a cause like severe constipation, anal fissure, angiodysplasia, colon polyp, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or colon cancer, etc.
You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get all the required tests and investigations done. Get imaging tests (CT, MRT, etc.) done so that the pathology causing you symptoms will be detected and treatment can be started at the earliest. It can be serious, sometimes such symptoms are life threatening so kindly do not neglect yourself.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
