Why Have I Had Swelling Around My Vaginal Opening?
Hi , I have had a swollen around my vagina just right side outside my vagina opening.. it feels hard when I touch it and it’s inside my skin.. I have had such experience earlier this year March 2023 and I visited the hospital the doctor prescribed Amoxiclav 1000g with ibuprofen which after I finished it the swollen was gone … but now it’s back and I don’t know what to do what medication should I take ?and why did it come back the second time ?
You are advised to get it clinically examined by a gynecoologist. Such swelling that is hard and tender at the vaginal opening is likely to be a Bartholin cyst. Bartholin cyst may need to be incised and drained and treated with antibiotics and antiseptic dressing if needed. If needed a biopsy may be done to rule out cancer of the vulva. If the cyst is producing discharge, then tests for STI may be done.
In the meantime, you can take sitz bath. It can give comfort, promote healing and cause infected cyst to burst & drain on its own. You can take a repeat dose of the prescribed medicines, antibiotics and pain-relieving medicines. Take care of your hygiene. Do not indulge into any sexual activity or self-pleasuring till you heal.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
