Why Have I Lost Control On Passing Stool?

Hi there. I have noticed that I do not seem to have the same control that I use to with my bowels. I sometimes seem to leak alittle and cannot "hold on" like I use to. I have a couple of times just recently noiced blood in my stools.. I am 47years old and wonder if maybe internal hemorrids cause this? thankyou.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This seems to be related with inflammation of the rectum or anal canal as proctitis or perianal infection. Internal hemorrhoids usually do not give rise to loss of control on passing stool unless in very advanced conditions.

Recommended to get examined by an expert consultant surgeon for perfect diagnosis and management accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
