Hi,
Noted your history of recurrent
sore throat and loss of voice at least thrice till now.
The commonest causes I can think about are follows:
Sore throat means there is pharyngitis and the edema and infection can be anywhere from nose to the lungs and
larynx being a part of the respiratory system can affect the vocal cords and thus cause loss of voice.
The pharynx also take part in voice modulation and hence
severe pharyngitis can cause the voice changes.
Laryngitis meaning inflammation of the voice apparatus and can involve the vocal cords which produce the sound.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult an ENT Surgeon for ENT
Endoscopy, particularly for the vocal cords.
Additional investigations of blood, throat swab and as advised.
All these will give the most appropriate diagnosis and allow a specific treatment which can be in the form of an anti-inflammatory medicine, antibiotic if there is any evidence of infection and any other treatment as would advised.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
