Why Have Antibiotics Given For Impetigo On Lips Led To Soreness And Swelling Of Nose?
Hi my boyfriend has empitigo on his toplip. Hes had it for three to four weeks. After taking two lots of antibiotics and cream for up his nose its still cracked very swollen and sore. Does he need more tablets ? Are swollen lip a symptom of empitigo and is there anything else he can do to clear it up and stop the pain ? Thank you
I can understand your concern for Impetigo on lips which led to soreness and swelling of nose of your boyfriend.
The most important precaution to follow is to not to try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem and spread of the infection. For time being period you can apply antibiotic cream such as fucidin or mupirocin and take pain killer tablets such diclofenac or paracetamol.
If it is increasing despite the treatment then meet a dermatologist or any family physician and get a proper treatment without delay for the proper antibiotic orally.
I also suggest you to go for culture and sensitivity of the affected area so that exact antibiotic can be given.
Take care.
