Why I Feel Like The Medicine I Swallowed In Stuck In Throat?
sure ok. I just (stupidly) swallowed two pills while half laying down and now it feels like they didn t go down but got stuck or went up (towards but not into the nasopharynx). I can breathe freely from each nostril (minus a bit of congestion I ve had from allergies but nothing abnormal) ..but it s making me crazy because every time I try and swallow it feels like something is lodged there (it feels hard to swallow). I m reticent to get up to go to the ER because of a) the hour and b) I can t drive - i had wine tonight and some magnesium pills for sleep. Any chance I could choke on these if they are stuck? if I just go to sleep? (i can breathe but swallowing feels more like when I have a cold and a swollen throat - and that s sudden).. thanks - realizing there s a limit to what you can answer :)
Relax dear, first you have to make yourself comfortable.
Any pill that have passed down the mouth cavity may have passed into the food pipe or the wind pipe. It is not in the wind pipe definitely as there should be violent cough. Now it has passed into the food pipe then to the stomach or lodged in the uppermost part of your food pipe, which is you are doubting about.
Just take a banana or a mouthful of cereal. If it is passing down, definitely there is no pill. The pain may be due to injury which might have occurred due to forceful swallowing of the pills and the condition will improve in a couple of days.
I hope I could solve your query. Please do not hesitate to clarify more doubts for the same situation.
