Why Is 2 Years Old The Cut Off Age For A Parent To Measure Their Child's Development?
Why is 2 years old the cut off age for a parent to count measure their child's development? Why has "it", development corrected itself by age 2? For example if my daughter is 6 months but was born premature then it would make more sense for me to look at the development of a 4 month old, until she is 2 years old. Then from 2 years old on I would not have to look 2 months behind. Why at 2 years old? why not 1 or 3 or 4 years old?
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. Development should be assessed right from birth. 2 years is the cut off point because almost 90% of the brain growth occurs during first 2 years. At 2 years if the child's development is normal naturally it will be normal afterwards also. Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
