Why Is Buprenorphine Sub Rox Not Able To Treat Leg Pain Due To Compartment Syndrome?

Hello Dr. I have been on bupinorphine sub Rox and It is not helping my pain in my leg. I have compartment syndrome in my right leg from an accident a few years ago and I have horrible insurance that will not cover this medication. It won t cover lyrica. The gaga helps a little but to be honest not very much and I was on 900 mg but my pcp told me that will not help and that the side effects are too risky to go higher. I have read a post that says this should help severe nerve damage pain and I am just wanting to find a different doctor that is able to help me be able to play hockey again.

Compartment syndrome affects all muscles and neuro vascular structure that contains in compartment. So nerve that in compartment also gets affected and hence pain may become long term. You should go for EMG NCV of right leg to ascertain exact etiology. Then visit expert pain management specialist. Get an opinion for nerve blocks that helps in permanent pain relief. All the best.
