Why Is Crestor Prescribed Instead Of A Good Diet?

I already did.... ok I took Crestor statin only for one week. I got a lot of side effect & was very tired . Yesterday I stoped it and today I was energetic and no fatigue or mussel pain. Why do doctors prescribe it?I had only 10 mg. And my cholesterol. Is not high but I have controlled Diabetes. I know that there are other healthier options like sterol... and a good diet.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You can try alternate like fibric acid derivatives or Niacin or Ezetimibe etc. Yes, anti hyperlipidemic drugs may cause muscle pain, weakness or spasm.

So you may maintain low fat diet, regular exercise, eat green leafy vegetables.

Also keep follow up on your cholesterol once in a year.

Please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
