Why Is Phenazopyridine Not Working For Leaky Urine Quickly ?

Hi. I have a UTI. One of the worst ones I have ever experienced. I went to a drugstore clinic and was prescribed an antibiotic and phenazopyridine for pain relief. The phenazopyridine usually works within a few hours but not this time. I took one pill last night when I got the prescription and 2 more today with almost no relief. Why is the pill not working this time? Also, I have leaking urine this time which has never happened before. Thanks for your help.

Hi, I went through your query. Leaky urine indicates a fistula or incontinence both of which predisposes to UTI. Phenazopyridine has a mild local analgesic action which does nothing to cure the problem. The pathology has to be corrected to get complete relief. I would advise you to consult a gynaecologist or urologist to get the urinary tract assessed properly. Hope this helps.
