hello i just got tested a week ago for genital herpes type 2 they said i have to go back for a repeat? what does that mean and should i be worried? I have a lesbian partner with gential herpes , she takes pills for it and we are very safe . Never had any skin to skin contact we always covered our vagina areas. and i never did oral to her Please help!!
Thank you for query.usually the tests done for Herpes detect the antibodies IG M and IGG/M occurs at earlier days after infection and is non specific.Ig G occurs late after few days of infection and stay for long and are more specific of herpes. So the tests can be told to be repeated just to confirm if at all you have also got infected with herpes as partner is positive.as it has come negative they want be definitely sure to tell you do not have herpes infection.so they repeat it.You can get back to me for any clarifications with details.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist and Venereologist
