Why Is Hemoglobin Level Abnormal While Suffering From Diabetes?
I AM DIABETIC PATIENT . I TAKE EUGLIM -M2 IN MORNING AND PIOGLIT MF 7.5 AFTER DINNER.MY LAB REPORT HEMOGLOBIN A1C IS 8.3%. MY DOCTOR ADVISED ME TO TAKE METRIDE-1 INSTEAD OF PIOGLIT MF 7.5 AFTER DINNER.PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW IT WILL BE EFFECTIVE TO CONTROL MY HEMOGLOBIN A1C.
Euglim M2 contains two active ingredients (glimepiride and metformin). Metride-1 contains the same two ingredients. Pioglit MF contains pioglitazone and metformin. Metformin is the basis of diabetes mellitus type 2 treatment. Pioglitazone and glimepiride can have an additive effect on blood sugar regulation. I can't explain your doctor's suggestion. 3 drug regimens (even in lower dosages) are more effective than 2 drug regimens. Your doctor might have changed your regimen for reasons other than the hemoglobin A1c. When my patients are in need of a better blood sugar regulation I prefer to add a new drug or start insulin.
