Why Is Iodine Prescribed For Cysts And Nodules In Thyroid?
Hi,I had bloodwork done and TSH came back .27 and T3 and T4 normal.Had sonogram done and found small cysts and nodules on both sides of thyroid.I m set to have radioactive iodine uptake test taken next week..what are they looking for and what is your opinion? Thank You.

not to worry about this at all! it is routine test just to exclude any focus of malignancy; I mean cold nodules favour such suspicious lesions whereas most of hot nodules are active or functional!
therefore it is just to exclude any chance of malignancy and also to detect the amount of normal thyroid tissue there along with its distribution!
