Why Is My Baby Having Smelling Poo From Weeks?

My 3and a half granddaughter recently had a bout of diarrhea which lasted for about 3 weeks. She has seen a doctor 2-3 times and they also checked her stool sample but couldn't find any bacteria. But after 4-5 weeks she is istill having very smelly poo. Can you please let me have some feedbacks as to why. Thanks.

As he is in recovery phase of disease there may be persistent synptoms.

Diarrhoea in children is usually self limiting. It requires supportive care by maintaining nutrition and hydration.

I would suggest the following

1. Home made Oral rehydration solution: To a glass of boiled and cooled water add 20 gms or glucose or sucrose(Sugar) and a pinch of common table salt. Feed the child as much as possible. Alternate with Tender Coconut water
2. Maintain Nutrition: Dhal water, wheat porridge, rice water
3. Probiotics like Syrup Neutrolin B 5 ml twice a day will be helpful
4. Continue giving breast feeding to baby less than 18 months of age
Consult Physician when you notice following red signs
1. Dry oral mucosa which implies dehdration
2. Absence of tears while crying
3. Blood/mucous in stools
4. Irritability
5. Decreased movements and excessive sleepiness
In case you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Wishing you happy and healthy life

Take Care
