Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
11 year old daughter. Complaining that she can not swallow food. Has had the issue before but seemed to go away. She keeps trying even items like ice cream, mac & cheese that she likes but says she can t swallow them. Tonight she is even scared to swallow her own saliva. Took her a couple years ago to doctor, etc. and they check her good and didn t seem to find anything. Now it flares up again but this time she is even scared to swallow liquids.
I went through your details. Swallowing difficulty is the inability to swallow foods or liquids with ease. People who have a hard time swallowing may choke on their food or liquid when trying to swallow.Medical name for swallowing difficulty is dysphagia.
You noted that once the doctor said there is nothing to worry about. If that is the case, even anxiety and obsession can be a cause for this dysphagia. I suggest you to consult a physician once again.
