Why Is My Friend Getting Swollen Lines On His Arms, Legs, And Back?

Hi. My boyfriend has been getting swollen lines on his arms, legs, and back. He scratches them til they bleed and scab up. He thought he might be getting bitten by bugs at night, but they are lines. Looks puffy like poison ivy gets, but its not poison ivy. Any ideas?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

It may be acute urticaria. Consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment. I would recommend you to apply calamine lotion on the lesions when develop. Take Fexofenadine 180 for few weeks. Avoid the food stuffs which may cause wheals.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilyas Patel, Dermatologist
