Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 61 years old 5ft 6inches and run 30 minutes 6 days a week on a treadmill. I weigh 195 lbs. My heart rate averagews in the high 140's and am not breathing hard at all. Is this good for me or should I cout back. I also would like to get to 185. I started at 222 one year ago.
High heart rate may be due to cardiac arrhythmia or hypertension or anemia or hyperthyroidism or caffeine or nicotine intake. High resting heart rate patients more prone to develop cardiac complications in future.
Avoid caffeinated drinks and alcohol. Avoid smoking and carbonated drinks. Please check blood pressure, hemoglobin, electrolyte level, etc. Do yoga and meditation regularly. If symptoms not improved please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
