Why Is My Son's Eye Lid Changing Colours Post Injury?

hello hi my son is 14 and he was playing basketball yesterday and him and another boy bumped heads but he was hit in the eye just the lid swelled up but today its turning black and blue the lid,his father said that its ok just put ice but im a little concerned now because its changing colors and its more swelled then it was yesterday what should I do

Hello
It seems from the history that your son is having black eye following injury.
This is called as ecchymosis of eyelid and is because of collection of blood in layers of eyelids as a result of injury.
As the blood starts getting absorbed it is broken into haem and its constituents, this explains change in color and this is normal.
The treatment is by cold compression and analgesic drugs.
