Im a 40 yo male and I recently noticed that one of my testicles is larger than the other. Strange, I just finished running a half marathon in Vegas, when I returned home Tuesday morning is when I noticed it, maybe is been there all along but never paid attention??? I feel no pain but the larger size one, feels a bit harder than the smaller one. Everything other than the size appears normal...and I just read a story that over 800 runners got sick over possible contaminated water, could contaminated water affect the testicles?

I have gone through your question. Its normal to have discrepancy in testicles size, usually the right one is a bit bigger and left one is lower than right. If it is bigger more than 50% of the other testis , increasing in size with time and hard in consistency then you needs evaluation. The first investigation is usually ultrasonography of the scrotum. It will give us an idea about composition of the testis, any abnormality will be visualized and reported. To rule out malignancy, alpha fetoprotein and Serum LDH is advised. Contaminated water is usually not associated with swelling of testis.
