Why Is Regestrrone 5mg Prescribed In Case Of Delayed Periods?

hi,i am married women..looking for pregnancy for past 1year..my lmp date aug11th,2014..this month periods delayed for 10days..urine and beta hcg tests results negative..my gyneac prescribed to take regestrrone 5mg..i want to know for what this tablet is prescribed for me?i want to get pregnant

Hi,
I understand your concern.
Your periods are delayed, pregnancy test is -ve. That means there is no pregnancy this time.
Sometimes due to hormonal imbalance/some other cause,periods may get late,giving wrong notion of pregnancy. In such a case, after confirming -ve pregnancy- we prefer to regulate menses by giving hormonal pills like Regestrone. It results in regulation of delayed period without pregnancy.
Your doctor has prescribed the regestrone with the same object, for next chance for getting pregnant is only possible with the following normal menstrual cycles .
