Why Is She Fainted After Getting Her Depo Shots?

Hi my 17 year old daughter was a week late getting her depo and after she got it today she immediately fainted & went into a full sweat. She said she completely blacked out. This is her 3 or 4th one and this has never happen before. She was also a week late getting her last depo which they did a pregnancy test last time but not this time. Is this normal?

I understand your concern.
Depot Provera is a long acting Progesteron derivative which is known to cause irregular periods. Return of normal menstruation/fertility after stopping the dose is as long as 18 months. so there is no possibility of getting pregnant by getting late in taking following dose .
So there is least possebilty of pregnancy causing fainting after getting injection depot Provera. That is why pregnancy testing is not needed in such condition.Depot Provera is not known to cause allergy .
Fainting can be due to simple reasons like - psychological stress/fear Or being on empty stomach ( low glucose level) /weakness/ sleeplessness & some concerning conditions-like postural hypo tension or hypertension / diabetes/ Cardiovascular disease / hepatitis ....
Please don't worry, instead, she should consult a physician to exclude these/ & take needful treatment if required.
