Why Is The Period Going On In Length?

Ok so I started my period about last Friday and it s been going on for 10 days which is abnormal for me. I don t need to use a pad, just toilet paper because there s barely any blood, and there s no blood in my pee, but only when I wipe. I m going to doctor if it doesn t stop at day 14, but I just wanted to know if it s something harmless.

Hello,

Light and prolonged spotting is harmless and related to temporary hormonal shifts and stress. Avoid stress, both emotionally and physically. Ensure that you’re supporting your body with proper nutrition and rest. Keep track of the bleeding, noting its color, amount, and any accompanying symptoms (e.g., pain, fatigue, changes in discharge).

However, if the bleeding continues beyond 14 days, becomes heavier, or is accompanied by pain, fever, or unusual discharge, it is concerning. Then, you should get clinically examined by a gynae, get required blood tests and USG done to detect thyroid problem, hormonal imbalance, infection, uterine problems, perimenopausal, or PCOS, etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
