Why Is The Vision Of A Child Reducing?

Sir, my daughter, aged 9 yrs, having problem of Sight, using glasses. As per recent check up she got -2.25 in (R) ,-2.5 in (L) with 6/9A vision. which increased to nearly 1.0 in each eyes for last four months. Now doc advise to check the ratina of my daughter as decreasing of vision power. Kindly advise

Hi !
Your daughter has got myopia. This is not a disease but refractive error i.e error of vision development.
this is usually developmental error and may be most of the times progressive up to the age of 20-21nyears. no special worry.Your daughter must undergo regular 6-monthly check up for vision and its correction by glasses.
If she does not like glassess then alternatively she can use contact lenses .
Either of thye two she must use regularly.
In high & progressive myopia, retina is expected to be weak and hence retina check up is advisable at least once a year, so that timely intervention may be done if there is any problem.
