Why Is Water Pill Prescribed Along With Blood Pressure Medicine?
My Mother inlaw is 80 and other then a low dose blood pressure pill she takes daily she is in good health. Her Dr. out of the blue decided to put her on a water pill. This is the second time in a few years a Dr. has put her on this . She always feels sick. This time she took 1 pill and ill. Why does she need this? She wants to listen to her Dr. but feels she doesn t need this.

Water pills better known as low dose diuretics are generally prescribed along with the regular antihypertensives for better control of blood pressure.But occasionaly these drugs are prone to cause low blood pressure and electrolyte imbalances that can result in muscular weakness.It is advisable not to use diuretics in the elderly.Consult your cardiologist for further queries.
