Why Is Weight Loss Not Advised In Case Of Elevated SGOT Levels?
I am a 57 yr old Asian male who recently lost 20 lbs over 2 months thru reduced carbs, increased exercise (moderate) and increased intake of fruits and vegetables (no fad diet.) I feel great and shed excess weight (10 more to go to reach healthy weight (145) as I am 5 5 . My recent blood panel showed elevated SGOT of 50 and my MD advised me to stop losing wt. this seems illogical and I would like to continue to keep this healthy behavior regimen. Your opinion?

Why Is Weight Loss Not Advised In Case Of Elevated SGOT Levels?
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. I cannot find a reason for you not losing weight. Do not worry. SGOT value of 50 is not a thing to worry. I would suggest you to - Avoid oily, spicy food - Avoid alcohol ,smoking - Continue physical exercise - Have a diet with loads of vegetables and fruits. Do not worry. If you develop pain abdomen or yellowish discolouration of urine and eyes , get an abdominal ultrasound done. For the time being, nothing to worry. Have a nice day. Wishing you good health.
