Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi.. fat globules in stools can occur due to deficiency of pancreatic enzyme like lipase, protease. This leads to bulky stools, oily in consistency with passing of flatus. In such cases dietary modification is needed along with enzyme supplementation. But before that I would suggest that the child undergoes detailed evaluation with enzyme level, ultrasound and if needed further imaging and local biopsy to arrive at a diagnosis. As the treatment needs to be taken for long term the diagnosis needs to be confirmed.
