Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my 80 year old father legs seem to buckle or weaken suddenly usually within minutes after eating a meal. Very sudden but always recovers after sitting down for a min. Sometimes the strength will be back to normal just sitting down for 10-20 secs. Has h Has had very normal active lifestyle until abt 5-6 weeks ago.
Hi, Thanks for asking. Looking at the clinical history, I can comment as follows: 1. Sudden blood flow to the gut, reduces flow in the lower limb blood vessels causing weakness. 2. Arteries in the blood vessels are already narrowed, any reduced blood supply, can lead to weakness.
I would advise regular walking along with nutritional diet. Meal should be multiple and small. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
