Hallow Mr. Rao,
I have gone through your girlfriend's history.
Prima facae, the case seems to be that of post-abortal infection may be due to
incomplete abortion. Does she have any
fever or foul smelling discharge? If so, they are indicating infection. The pain in abdomen is very much indicative of incomplete abortion with or without infection.
In fact, termination of
pregnancy is to be performed by Tab. Mifepristone and
Misoprostol one after the other. These tablets are not 'over the counter medicines'; they need Registered Medical Practitioners prescription and observation. Though up to 9 weeks of pregnancy, usually the abortion is complete, I prefer a check up after about a week or so. For pregnancy older that 9 weeks, follow up is required.
According to you, the abortion is complete. How did you decide that? Have you got
ultrasonography examination done? Pregnancy test becoming negative does not mean the abortion is complete; it only means that the products of conception are no more viable. Some part of non-viable tissue remaining inside the
uterine cavity also will give pregnancy test negative; however, it is incomplete abortion. For completion of abortion, the clinical test is that the bleeding stops and the reliable investigation is ultrasonography.
From the history you have provided, I feel, it is incomplete abortion which may be infected or complete abortion with infection. The best option for you is to confirm the diagnosis about completion of abortion by ultrasonography. Then report to your Obstetrician. You will be put on antibiotics and if the ultrasonography reveals that some part of product of conception is still remaining inside the uterine cavity, it will have to be evacuated surgically.
I hope I have provided you very clear explanation and important advice.
