Why My Husband's Sound Is Hoarse?

My husband swallowed a large vitamin. It went down the wrong way. He started to cough and eventually the vitamin came out, but accompanied with blood. He is very hoarse now. I told him we should go to the doctor, but he doesn't want to. Will he be okay?
