Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My baby is 5 months old and 6th month going on. She is been exclusively breast feed till now. After feeding rice cerelac she vomits completely and also chokes. She is very uncomfortable with it, and also she is only 5.5 kg.I am very concerned with her weight. Also suggest me the quantity of cerelac per day.
Thanks for the query. I personally do not recommend use of cerelac. There are better home made recipes which have stood the test of time. The aim of the complimentary diet is to, supply the extra demands of growing baby which cannot be solely meet by breast milk alone.
Start with Rice water, or Rice kanji, Dhal water, Wheat porridge, Home made Cerelac, Vegetable soup, Apple puree.
If he's vomiting up cereal until there's bile, then he's not ready yet for cereal. Stop giving it to him for a while. Rice cerelac is little bit difficult to digest so start with rice water and veggies first. Sometimes allergy may be the cause. Also check for consistency of the cerelac you prepare at home too thick with particles may cause chocking and vomiting.
