Why The Bruise Sore Which Formed A Month Before?

I hit my leg up against the edge of the car door while trying to close it (with my hands full of papers and a printer) and it cause a bruise....well this was last month. If I touch the spot it is still sore and it feels like there are some nots under the bruise. Should I be concerned about these knots?
