Some women have increased vaginal discharge in the last months of pregnancy. It is normal if it is whitish and not associated with bad smell and itching.
If the discharge is yellowish, has bad smell or you have itching it is suggestive of infection and you must see your doctor.
You have mentioned that the genital area seems a bit irritated. This usually occurs with infection.
If the discharge seems normal use and change panty liners frequently and use cotton undergarments. With this the irritation should disappear.
I hope I have answered to your satisfaction.
