Why Tonsillitis Is Not Coming Down Even With Penicillin?

I ve had tonsillitis for over 2 weeks now, I have been on penicillin however have just finished them and i still have swollen glands, a sore throat, coughing up stuff and yellow stuff on the right tonsil. Something has come up on my left tonsil that almost looks like a purple vein, whatever it is it is very painful. I m prone to tonsillitis and get it a lot, I m 18 and will soon be going to uni so I can t afford to be getting sick with this as often as I do, I don t know what to do?
