Why Would I Miss My Periods When I Am Not Sexually Active Apart From High Stress Levels And Depression?
Hello! I’ve been missing my period lately.. I haven’t had sex nor been near males recently. I work out dayly (6-7days) I have recently had high amounts of stress and recovered from untreated depression. I am not on any meds. I go to sleep anytime between 10:30 - 12. I’m very concered.. Thank you.
Many factors can cause hormonal imbalance resulting in irregular cycles. Stress, change in weight (weight gain or significant weight loss), poor eating habits, irregular sleep patterns, any viral illness are a few. Endocrine causes can be ruled out by doing serum TSH and fasting prolactin.
If these blood parameters are normal you can do an ultrasound pelvis to rule out PCOD (very common) and other less common pathologies like ovarian cysts. You have not mentioned your age so if you are around the age of menopause then may be it is normal for the cycles to be irregular. If not please try to do the 2 lab parameters. Meditation and yoga can help you with your stress and sleep patterns.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
